Dr. Karen Kuhl

Dr. Karen Kuhl, While growing up on a farm in downstate Illinois, Dr. Kuhl acquired a joy for working with animals of all sizes. Added to this was a joy of working in science (especially biology and chemistry). Therefore, Dr. Kuhl entered the University of Illinois in the Animal Science curriculum. After 2 years, she was admitted to the College of Veterinary Medicine and she graduated in 1987.

Upon completing 2 years in private practice, Dr. Kuhl was accepted into a dermatology residency at the University of Pennsylvania College of Veterinary Medicine. She completed this residency and became board certified in dermatology in 1992. While at the University of Pennsylvania, she wrote an article for the Journal of Veterinary Pathology, which won the Journal's 1995 article of the year award. Additionally, she has written articles for journals, books and veterinary newsmagazines and given lectures at a variety of meetings for breeders, technicians and veterinarians.

Dr. Kuhl moved back to the Chicago area in 1992 to be closer to family and friends and has been practicing dermatology in this area since 1992. She is a member of the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association, the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American College of Veterinary Dermatology, the American Academy of Veterinary Dermatology and the International Society of Veterinary Dermatopathology.

Dr. Kuhl and her husband are also involved in activities with the local schools and church especially those activities related to their two girls. She also is involved in maintaining her own Labrador Retriever's allergies and related skin problems!!
