FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
VSC FAMILY DONATES OVER A THOUSAND POUNDS OF CAT AND DOG NECESSITIES TO NINA’S PET FOOD PANTRY

BUFFALO GROVE, IL (January 3, 2012) - In an effort to make sure that our furry friends were not forgotten this holiday season, Veterinary Specialty Center (VSC) in Buffalo Grove, IL and their clients donated over 1,200 pounds of pet food and necessities, as well as, over $2,500 to Nina’s Pet Food Pantry. The donations were collected at VSC between November 1 and December 31 of 2011.

“When people are going through tough financial times, pets are often left behind or neglected. By supporting Nina’s Pet Food Pantry, VSC wanted to show that there is hope. Nina’s Pet Food Pantry is a great way to keep pets with their families and in good homes,” stated VSC’s client service administrator, Lisa Sadak.

Nina’s Pet Food Pantry operates out of two established food pantries at St. Vincents de Sales Parish in Lake Zurich, IL and from the Palatine Township in Palatine, IL. The program provides free dog and cat food, as well as, other pet necessities to persons struggling to care for their animal families. The Nina’s Pet Food Pantry program was created in 2009 by Young at Heart Pet Rescue when Nina’s family (a Portuguese Water Dog and former client of VSC) donated a generous grant in her memory.

“We are very thankful for the donation that we received from VSC and their clients. Through donations such as these, we are able to alleviate some of the financial burden on families facing hard times which ,in turn, helps to keep pets out of local shelters,” stated Young at Heart’s executive director, Dawn Kemper. We are always accepting donations of unopened bags (20 pounds or less) and cans of dog and cat food and other necessities,” Kemper explained.
