Dr. Harold Richardson received his DVM from Kansas State University in 1969. After 2 years in the Air Force, the next 13 years were spend in companion animal practice in Addison, IL. In 1984 he started a 3-year residence program in comparative dermatology at the University of Minnesota, followed by one year of clinical teaching at the veterinary teaching hospital. During 1987 he established Dermatology Referral Service at the Veterinary Specialty Clinic in Riverwoods, IL. In 1998 this practice was merged with Animal Allergy and Dermatology, to form Midwest Veterinary Dermatology Center, LLC. In June of 2001, the practice moved to the Veterinary Specialty Center in Buffalo Grove, Illinois. Dr. Richardson has been a member of the American Academy of Veterinary Dermatology since 1984, limited his practice to dermatology since 1987 and received his Masters in comparative dermatology in 1994. He is also a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Illinois Veterinary Medical Association, Chicago Veterinary Medical Association and the American Animal Hospital Association. The development and construction of the Veterinary Specialty Center which opened in June 2001 is a dream come true, providing a state of the art facility that unites multiple disciplines in specialized veterinary care in one facility. Dr. Richardson is the first president of the Veterinary Specialty Center board. Dr. Richardson and his wife Julia travel north whenever they can; either back to Minnesota to see their grandchildren, daughters and family or to a family cottage in the Minocqua area of Wisconsin. Fishing, cross-country skiing and walking are activities the family enjoys doing together. |
