Surgery

Dr. Ablin's veterinary education was shaped by some of the top names in veterinary surgery and it was through this education that she came to recognize the rewards of teaching. Her work with interns and residents earned her the Munson Blakely Award, and she continues to feed her passion for education today by lecturing at veterinary conferences and studying rehabilitation therapy. Dr. Ablin values her ability to work closely with pet owners to make sure both the owners and the pets have the best treatment experience possible.

Passing on knowledge learned
"I had a great experience teaching students, interns and residents. I also worked in a research lab at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, where I had the opportunity to work with physicians and medical students. I really enjoyed teaching – the experience of being able to pass along your knowledge and skill."

The most fulfilling profession
"Working as a veterinarian is the most fulfilling profession. I love helping pets and their owners. Our pets are only at the Veterinary Specialty Center for a relatively short time, and I want to help them have the best quality of life possible."

Most inspiring case
"I've worked with a yellow labrador retriever, named Hamish, that was paralyzed in all four legs. We operated to relieve a slipped disc, followed up by rehabilitation therapy, and not only did Hamish walk again, but he fathered a litter. I always enjoy seeing Hamish, and his gracious owner."
