Dr. Jerry A. Thornhill

 

Dr. Jerry A. Thornhill earned his DVM degree from the University of Missouri in 1970 and earned Diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 1980. After serving on the staff of Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine, in the Small Animal Clinics & Small Animal Medicine Department in the late ‘70s to mid ‘80s (appointment designated for teaching & research in Renal Medicine), he has since served as a consultant in Veterinary Internal Medicine & Nephrology in the Chicagoland area for the past 15 years, as well as a performing in a part-time research appointment in the Renal & Hypertension Section of the Hines VA Hospital, from 1990 to 2002.

Under the direction of Dr. Thornhill, the Chicago Veterinary Kidney Center is designed to offer diagnostic, conservative therapeutic management and dialysis life support (e.g., peritoneal & hemodialysis) for canine, feline & exotic breed patients with renal dysfunction, needing the service. In conjunction with the surgery department, teaming with Dr. Mitch Robbins, plans are under way to broaden the therapeutic management program with the offer of feline and canine renal transplantation capability projected by the winter of 2008.
