Dr. Corrie enjoyed working with her local veterinarian when she was younger and caring for her family pets. As she grew older, she became interested in the science and problem-solving of veterinary medicine and the multitude of opportunities available within the profession.

What drove you to go to the emergency sidei of veterinary medicine?

I like the fast pace and variety of emergency medicine. I especially enjoy managing surgical cases and being able to treat them both before surgery and in their recovery.

What are some of your biggest challenges in ECC?

Some of the biggest challenges are the more complicated cases that don’t have a straightforward or quick solution. Not being able to find the answer can be frustrating for both the doctor and owner, especially when we do everything we can to help their pet. It can also be incredibly stressful for the owners when faced with an emergency that they were not prepared for, so a big part of my job is helping them navigate difficult situations.

What do you like to do when you’re not at work?

I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, working out, traveling, and cheering on Chicago sports teams, especially the White Sox.
