Constant rate infusions of analgesic drugs

Depending on the level of pain your pet is in or the degree of pain caused by the surgical procedure, your pet may be placed on constant rate infusions of analgesic drugs during anesthesia and postoperatively. These include fentanyl, ketamine, and/or lidocaine. These medications are delivered by an infusion pump and your pet is monitored very carefully for possible side effects or interactions. If these medications need to be continued overnight, your pet will be sent to the intensive care unit for monitoring.
