Shane Mart, DVM (House Doctor)

The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine

“When I was growing up, my mom would always take my siblings and me to the Brookfield Zoo where I fell in love with animals and knew one day I wanted to take care of them.

Because surgery is a stressful time for both pets and their owners, my favorite specialty in veterinary medicine is anesthesia. I enjoy being able to keep these animals safe, relaxed, and pain-free during their time of need. Anesthesia is a complex specialty as each patient is different and requires a different protocol. This specialty constantly challenges me to think through my patients and change what we are doing based on what is happening in the moment. I also have a particular interest in anesthetizing exotic and zoo animals.”
