Veterinary Specialty Center Kicks-Off Seventh Annual Holiday Pet Supply Drive

Veterinary Specialty Center (VSC) in Buffalo Grove has kicked off our Seventh Annual Holiday Pet Supply Drive with a goal to bring in over 4,500 pounds of pet food and supplies for Our House of Hope Pet Food Pantry (OHOH) in Lake County.

“We’re very excited to be included in VSC’s pet food drive once again so that we can continue to provide pet food to families struggling to feed themselves and their four-legged family members,” says Lisa Krinninger, Executive director of OHOH. “Our goal is to be proactive versus reactive. We try to provide programming and resources to allow pets to stay with their people and to stay out of rescues and shelters altogether. The Pantry’s motto is – Keeping pets with their people.”

OHOH provides pet food and supplies to help pet families in need who qualify for their assistance programs. The organization currently provides 2,000 to 2,300 pounds of food a week to over 350 Lake County families for a total of over 100,000 pounds a year. In addition, they assist animal controls in Lake County, rescues and shelters in times of need. Food and supplies are distributed to qualifying families at the OHOH Pet Food Pantry at the Central Bark Doggy Day Care Building at 256 Commerce, Unit 1, in Grayslake.

VSC is collecting the following items –

  • Bags and cans of dog and cat food – any size,  brand or flavor
  • Dog and cat treats
  • Cat Litter
  • Pet toys
  • Guinea pig – food, treats and toys
  • Rabbit – food, toys and Timothy Hay
  • Turtle food
  • Conure bird – food and treats
  • Collars, harnesses and leashes
  • Gift cards or cash donations

“We see the importance of the human/animal bond every day when families come to our hospital to get their pets treated,” said Becky Murray, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Certified Veterinary Technician at Veterinary Specialty Center. “Our employees are passionate about pets and assisting in the community to help rescues and other programs that keep pet families together.”

Donations may be dropped off at Veterinary Specialty Center at 1515 Busch Parkway in Buffalo Grove between 7 am and midnight and at our Rehabilitation and Integrative Medicine Center at 1495 Busch Parkway in Buffalo Grove during regular business hours. Donations will be accepted through Monday, January 7th.
