Veterinary Specialty Center has kicked off a Summer Pet Supply Drive for Our House of Hope Pet Food Pantry (OHOH). Each week, OHOH assists 3,500 pet families in need ranging from senior citizens to veterans to the disabled and anyone that who qualify for their assistance programs.
“Our goal is to be proactive versus reactive,” says Lisa Krinninger, Executive Director of OHOH. “We try to provide programming and resources to allow pets to stay with their people and to stay out of rescues and shelters altogether. The Pantry’s motto is – Keeping pets with their people.”
VSC is collecting the following items –
For Cats and Dogs
Canned food (any flavor)
Dry food (any size)
Collars & leashes
For Other Pets
Guinea Pigs – food, treats and toys
Rabbits – food, treats and toys
Bird – food and treats
Turtles – food
Donations are typically down in the summer although the need for assistance hasn’t declined. May be dropped off until Monday, August 5th at Veterinary Specialty Center at 1515 Busch Parkway from 7 am until 10 pm, seven days a week and at our Rehabilitation and Integrative Care Center at 1330 Busch Parkway from 7 am until 5 pm Monday through Thursday, 8 am until 2 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
Cash donations and gift cards are also needed. Checks can be made out to Our House of Hope.
Families in need of assistance may download an application here. The Pet Food Pantry is open from 9 am until noon on Saturday’s at Central Park Doggy Day Care at 256 Commerce Drive in Grayslake.
