VSC’s Visitation Policy for Hospitalized Pets

At Veterinary Specialty Center, we recognize the deep bond you share with your pet and the anxiety that arises when they require medical attention beyond what can be provided at home. We want you to know that we prioritize the well-being and comfort of your beloved pet, and we strive to provide the highest quality of care throughout their stay with us.

To fulfill our commitment to both our patients and clients, VSC has established the following hours and conditions.

  • Visiting hours are 11 am-6 pm and 8 pm-10 pm, 7 days per week. Please note that during busier times, there may be a significant wait until we can accommodate your visit.
  • Visits are limited to 20 minutes twice per day. For safety, visits with patients suffering from infectious diseases will not be able to be accommodated.
  • Please call our hospital at 847-495-7535 prior to your visit to confirm availability and allow our emergency and critical care team to better coordinate your pet’s care around your visit.
  • You will be notified of any sudden changes or deterioration in your pet’s condition immediately.

Visitor Code of Conduct:

  • All clients and visitors must conduct themselves in a respectful and considerate manner towards veterinary hospital staff, other clients, and fellow visitors.
  • Noise levels should be kept to a minimum to prevent unnecessary stress to the animals and maintain a calm environment.
  • Cell phone use is not permitted in or around our ER/ICU.
  • Children must be supervised at all times to ensure their safety and the well-being of the animals.
  • Refrain from touching or asking questions about other hospitalized animals.
  • Smoking, vaping, and the consumption of alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited within the veterinary hospital premises.

We understand that leaving your pet in a hospital environment can evoke feelings of concern, worry, and even guilt. Please rest assured that our dedicated and compassionate team of veterinarians, technicians, and support staff are well-trained professionals who will do everything possible to ensure the comfort, safety, and recovery of your pet.
