Trailblazing Emergency Doctors Wanted

Basin was blazing his own trail when disaster struck and he ended up at Veterinary Specialty Center after being stabilized at another ER.

When cases like this come into our hospital, it is a team effort to save their life and get them in a position for our other specialty teams to lend their area of expertise.

Veterinary Specialty Center is a Certified Trauma Center and while we do see all kinds of very critical cases, that isn’t all that we see. On any given day, our emergency doctors see illnesses and injuries on all ends of the spectrum giving our team a great mix of cases. VSC’s trailblazing collaborative approach gives our emergency team access to a variety of specialists when treating emergency cases, an option not available at emergency-only practices.

We have also blazed our own trail when it comes to providing diagnostic and treatment options for our team –

  • 24-hour access to advanced imaging such as digital radiography, focused ultrasound, MRI, CT, and fluoroscopy
  • Advanced monitoring including pulse oximetry, capnography, blood pressure (invasive and non-invasive), and telemetry system for continuous ECG monitoring
  • Advanced multimodal pain management
  • Emergency endoscopy for foreign body retrieval
  • Live scribe support for expedited records management
  • Enteral and parenteral nutritional support
  • Extracorporeal therapies including hemodialysis, plasmapheresis, therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE), apheresis, and peritoneal dialysis
  • Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)
  • In-house STAT laboratory services such as blood gas monitoring, CBC, blood chemistry analysis, and viscoelastic coagulation testing
  • Long- and short-term mechanical ventilation
  • Oxygen therapy including critical care ICU oxygen cages, nasal oxygen therapy, and advanced high-flow oxygen therapy
  • Transfusion medicine and blood component therapy

Speaking of trailblazing, our emergency doctors can count on our experienced support team which includes five Veterinary Technician Specialists (VTS)  in Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) and a full team of technicians and assistants to help care for all levels of patients that come through our doors.

We also provide in-house continuing education and mentoring along with a stipend for external CE so all members of our team can continue to lead the way in emergency medicine.
