Zoology & Avian Medicine

The ability to aid both species facing threats in their native habitat and increase the standard of care for those species in managed care through medicine is what motivated me to become a veterinarian. Many career paths can involve conservation, but veterinary medicine melds problem solving and the rewarding nature of treating patients together to create a great balance of science and creativity. Although I aim to become a veterinarian in a zoological setting, I am passionate about all aspects of veterinary medicine and hope to learn more about other specialties as I progress through my career.

The diverse array of species in this field is intriguing to me as well as the potential to make a greater impact on managed and wild populations, as much less is known about non-traditional species.
