What do I do if I have an emergency?
Call ahead (847) 459-7535. We want to be prepared for your arrival and we may have instructions for you even before coming to the hospital. Of course, it’s okay to just arrive, but a phone call first helps us to have everything we may need ready for you and your pet upon arrival. Our emergency animal clinic is on call whenever you need us.
How do I know whether it is something that can wait until my regular veterinarian is open tomorrow?
If you have any questions whatsoever, go ahead and give our emergency animal clinic a call. By speaking with one of our experienced veterinary technicians, we’ll be able to help you decide the next best steps. Keep in mind that without seeing your pet, we cannot be sure that the problem you are describing is something that can wait. If you are concerned, the best thing to do is to come in and have a doctor examine your pet. Then, we can either recommend treatment right away or give you the peace of mind that it is okay to wait for your regular veterinarian in the morning. Having our emergency animal clinic as a resource means you’ll never have to take a chance; we’re always just a phone call or a visit away.
How do I get to Veterinary Specialty Center’s emergency animal clinic?
Simply refer to our directions page or just enter our address – 1515 Busch Parkway, Buffalo Grove, IL, 60089 or 2242 West Harrison, Suite 101 in Chicago 60612 into your GPS.
How do I avoid a visit to your emergency animal clinic?
Get regular health exams with your primary care veterinarian for each pet in your household. This is the best way to catch any potential problems before they become serious. Also, have your pet examined at the first sign of illness. Animals are very good at hiding their symptoms and by the time you notice them, it may already be a serious condition.
